Upgrade ubuntu from 9.10 to 10 .04

I have been putting this off for a while now ,when it was first available
there was a problem booting into windows ,is this problem still arising ,also
what would be the best way to do a back up as i have never backed up before .

Perhaps you could give us some details about what operating system you have
installed (other than Windows) and what you see happening when you try to
boot into Windows. I assume that you have Ubuntu, but don't know for sure
and what version. It would also be nice to know something about drives and
partitions or whether you used WUBI.

yes i have a wubi install
windows xp and ubuntu 9.10 on my laptop
Both operating system boot lovely ,i am very please with my ubuntu 9.10 and if
by doing an upgrade will mess up my ubuntu i would rather stay with 9.10 .

Since you are using Wubi then it is best to leave it as is. Since you cannot
boot into Windows then it is likely a problem with the Windows bootloader
and not grub. This article may help you:

I can boot into windows xp perfectly fine ,both os work great .
