I was wondering a few things about the differences between gstreamer vs.
xine, I know that gstreamer is default in Ubuntu, but I have been
using TunaPie to get winamp's TV streams. I also noticed that
totem-gstreamer won't play most of the video that streams out of it.

Is this because gstreamer doesn't use the w32codecs package from
medibuntu and xine does?
