Question Answered By: Adah Miller   on Dec 05

I've tried all the suggestions below and still have the problem. It's USB
cabled btw. I haven't tried a different cable cause this printer was working
under the Ubuntu live DVD and under XP. I think I even used it with my laptop
before. I only have this printer too. I didn't install any software, the
option mentioned before was what the OS found. The OS seems like it was a good
install. I used a DVD that was from a Linux magazine and then upgraded to the
current ver of 9.10. I never used any installed version that has worked with
the printer, just a live version.

I really don't think it's a USB port problem or a cable problem. I'll dig out a
live DVD and see if I can get it to print in the next day.

Some of the other questions I'd like to answer here.....

"You do need to maker sure you choose the driver that has hpijs in it." - When
it comes to installing anything in Ubuntu, I'll need some help. I haven't a
clue as to what hpijs is, but of course I could google it.

"Go to cups. Under Admin, when you click on Find New Printers, does it
find it?" - Again, clueless as to what cups is, but I could follow directions.
