Have you installed the hplip : HP Linux Imaging and Printing - Print, Scan
and Fax Drivers for Linux. If not do so. Then check your System drop down
menu. Go to Administration and left click on printing. It should auto
detect your printer. Make sure to right click on the printer icon and
select it as default.

It detects it but there is no driver available it instead selects driver for
HP 3320 hpijs 3.10.6 and this does not work

Answer #4    Answered On: Jan 21

I copied the file HPLIP 3.11.1.run to desktop. Then opened a terminal window
typed cd Desktop then typed sh hplip-3.11.1.run press enter and nothing
happens.

Did you not download an ISO package to burn to a CD. Then you have the
program to load at anytime on CD.

I have an HP3050 and it works just fine. It shows the correct printer in
the HP list
and just works. I am using 10.04 and I think 10.10 on the system
upstairs that is
Ubuntu also. A question though. Is this printer connected to the Ubuntu
system?
Mine is connect to my XP system and print and file sharing is enabled
there.
I would expect that if yours is connected direct to the system it would
see it
faster. The HP3050 is an old enough printer the drivers should be available.
I did have to go the HP site to get the driver for the XP system though.

that shoul;d of course be turned on it will find it and install the driver.

Great news I finally it to print I downloaded HPLIP 3.11.1 again and this
time it installed itself. Found my printer and printed a test sheet. I have
not tried to scan yet. Thanks to you guys for pointing me in the right
direction.
Running Ubuntu 10.10 connected via usb will experiment with scanning and the
wireless function and let you know the results

OK then - can you assist me - I installed ubuntu 10.10 that has a HPLIP6 and
when it does a test print - the printer goes nuts and continues to push out
unprinted pages until it runs out of paper or I pull the paper tray. I look
into the drivers and it finds the drive - question should I go and down load the
same driver as this one maybe corrupt?

I could have swore he said it was a HP3050, if not I am sorry for the post.
It isn't the first time though that I may have made an assumption that was
wrong, it has happened before, and will probably happen again.

Go to the printers web site and with your printer model number click the

Avoid those sties because they often send an unwanted payload with all
sorts of adware etc.

Answer #18    Answered On: Jan 21

Last time I did the print driver, the HP site redirected me to the open source
site.
