I installed Ubuntu from a live cd within windows. It is working fine except Iam not able to create the @sign to create a chat account or configure the emailprogram have tried changing keyboard settings to no avail. Also swapped outkeyboards for 2 or 3 other makes still to no avail.Any help would be greatly appreciated.
You need to change the keyboard layout, not the keyboard. You likely set itfor another language. Go to System, Preferences, Keyboard and click on theLayouts tab. Change whatever is there to USA.
I found the problem. It was set for Canada however after doing somemore digging I found I could change it to English US and the display examplewas exactly what I was looking for. I set it for English US and thendeleted the Canada setting. It works fine now.
Canada English should have the same keyboard layout as US English. Perhaps you had selected French Canada? If so, then all bets would be off....
