Question Answered By: Adah Miller   on Dec 18

I've researched this a little on
the archives for this list and Google,
but is there a definitive reason why
certain CD/DVD drives will work for
everything except burning?

My internal drive is a Samsung I think
and does this. But, my external Lite-on
will show the blank disk and allows burning
functions.

Yes, some drives are ROMs or Read Only while others are RW or Read
/Write. I have had one CDRW go bad on me that would not burn a CD but
would read them.
