I always use Gmail from the web browser. It can be used anywhere, has
huge free storage and hasn't been down (when I wanted to use it
anyway) for years. I use it on my Android phone as well as every
computer I own, regardless of the operating system (Kubuntu, Puppy
Linux, XP). Consistent interface, no worries about filling the hard
drive and reliability far beyond what I could guarantee with local
storage.
