Dunno about any drag n drop method, I've always found Firefox does this much the
same way as IE, i.e. go to the page you want as home, click the TOOLS menu, then
OPTIONS (or alt-t, o on the keyboard), then on the GENERAL tab click USE CURRENT
PAGE.
