I would try cleaning it with DVD disk cleaner. Check to see if the DVDR will
play audio CD's with out the system freezing up. Next open up the box and see if
the IDE cables are connect tight to the DVDR and Mother Board. Next is
disconnect it and test your system out. See if it freezes up. If that is a no.
It may be the DVDR that is going bad.
