Question Answered By: Adah Miller   on Feb 06

I checked that thread. It was useful.

Logging in using the new user I had created, I used gksudo nautilus to go
into my original user home directory. First I renamed .gnome2 to .gnome2 bak.
I tried to login but the only change seemed to be that the text that had flashed
across the blank screen too fast to read before was gone. Other wise it was the
same. I then went back into the new user and used gksudo nautilus to go into
the original user home directory and renamed .conf to .conf bak. I was
successful. I haven't checked much for any changes but my theme, which I was
changing when this started, was back to default. My Windows title and Menu
fonts are the same as they were after changing them.

Thanks again to everyone for the concern and all the advice. I always tell
my wife that, along with Ubuntu installed on a PC being "a poor man's Mac", the
helpful attitude I USED to see with Mac people is prevalent in the Ubuntu
community. It's one of the main reasons I switched to Ubuntu. I know I can
find some site that discusses my problem, some tutorial telling how me to fix
it, or a group like this with people wanting to help.
