I am trying to download this with the deb installer package, but i'm getting this
error message... error:Dependency is not satisfiable:libasound2 {>> 1.0.22}.I
have installed the libasound2 plug in using Synaptic Package Manager but it
doesn't make any difference . I didnt have this problem with Ubuntu 10.04 when
I was trialing the Beta version, however i'm now back to using Ubuntu version
9.10.The only reason I wanted to instal Realplayer was the ability to download
from Youtube.Does the Helix player have this facility? Finally i am new to the
group & dont have that much experience using Linux,so any help
appreciated..

As you say, On 10.04 the Real Player 11 installs with the deb installer
downloaded from their site. I still have 9.10 on one of my computers
but have been using 10.04 for everything so didn't try to install it on
9.10. Later today when I have more time I will try to install it on
that machine.

Try using vlc. It is in synaptic..........

Of course you are right. The repository is the best way to go. I may
have proven nothing because I already have vlc installed and working on
my machines. If I break it I'll fix it, this is just a game for me.
