Date: Dec 27    Category: Unix / Linux / Ubuntu    Views: 381

hardy seems to be running real slow on my acer aspire 3620, which is a
couple years old. i had to install it by throwing a beta download on
there and updating from that. does it not run well on older computers?
it is a laptop, but dapper ran awesome on it.

As I said it my message it run on my old computer with only a AMD Duron
and 128mb RAM so it should run well on your laptop.

If you cannot get it to run you had better reverse the update.

yeah, i wiped it and threw windows on it. wouldnt take gutsy. then
after i got windows on it i tried to put gutsy on it. REAL slow. so
then i tried to put dapper on it, which is what i started out with.
REAL slow again.

Why did you put Windows back. Why not just load Gutsy on the clean drive?

Do you have a CD of 6.06 DapperDrake. Format the drive then load that
and use it.

If nothing works at the speed you think your computer should run then
you need a geek to do an overhaul it seems.

I installed hardy on my old HP 5445 laptop with 1.0Ghz cpu and 512MB
ram. It started out running really slow (would not even display Same
Gnome game on lowest level. After a couple of reboots and letting it
run for a while, it speeded up quite nicely and runs as quickly as
Gutsy did on my desktop.

Having a little patience and letting programs settle down often shows some improvement over time.
