Hardy Heron BETA upgrade

Date: Dec 28    Category: Unix / Linux / Ubuntu    Views: 305

First time I've done a upgrade in Ubuntu and it appears everything is
working nicely. No hickups. Very painless process. For a Beta version
I think Canonical has a lot to be proud of with this release.

I've got a broken package or two, but nothing important, and I'm sure
it will resolve soon.

Did you do the upgrade straight from another Ubuntu version over the
net.
My upgrade was over the internet this time, from Feisty 7.10. I tried
upgrading before with 6.06 LTS to 7.04 beta and it was vey unstable.
When the last upgrad to Feisty 7.10 I did the complete fresh copy
install from CD, but doing this I lost all my deesktop personization.
This time every thing appears to be pretty stable without starting from
scratch, (blowing every thing with away to do a fresh CD install). I'm
very happy.

Like you said David, if only a few packages are acting up, then this is
a very tolerable upgrade until a patch is available for the fix.

I gave it a go and had to go back to gutsy. wireless was not
cooperating at all.
