Question Answered By: Adah Miller   on Jan 21

If you press ctrl-alt-f1 through f6, you will find that you have six
'alternate' non-gui terminals, or ttys (teletypes). To get back to the
gui, press alt-f7 (the ctrl key is only needed when switching from the
gui into the first tty, alt-fx is fine thereafter).
