Question Answered By: Adah Miller   on Dec 26

It is nice to have people share success from time to time. It helps keep things
in perspective. Most people do not have problems, including many newbies who are
trying Linux for the first time.

People have to remember that they are using a free OS which is the work of
thousands of people spread all over the globe. Yet deadlines that nobody else in
the industry even attempts are being met. They are trying to set up equipment in
which the manufacturer has been more of a hindrance than a help. They are trying
to do things (such as run Compiz Fusion) that other OSes can't do half as well,
if at all.

I don't want to minimize what problems are being experienced, but they are
nothing compared to what we have experienced in the past or in what users of
other OSes find to be the norm. In the time since Vista was released, we have
seen three upgrades of Ubuntu and SP1 still is not out. When you consider all of
the advantages that MS has in comparison the achievement is rather remarkable.
This is not said to put down MS, but rather to show the enormity of the task
facing open source developers.

I hope that others will share their success as well as to ask for help.
