Question Answered By: Adah Miller   on Feb 12

Install K3b via Synaptic and use that to burn your ISO to CD.

Once you've burned the Ubuntu CD you can upgrade straight from that
without rebooting. Just open your CD tray and close it, so the system
recognises it's an Ubuntu install CD. A window will then appear asking
if you want to upgrade Ubuntu. Click yes and it will then source the
upgrade partly from the CD and partly from online repositories.
