I have a sucessful installation of MS Virtual PC on Vista Ultimate.
Ubuntu 7.04 loads the 'run from CD" version on the virtual pc, , but
then I have no responce from the "install" icon. The mouse pointer
touches it, but no action. There is no response from the keyboard as
well.

When you boot using the ubuntu`s CD, press F6 (More options), to see if there`s
more options to install without start the X.
Or you could try this, http://wubi.sourceforge.net/
Using that site you install the Ubuntu on your Windows like you install a
program.

Is MS Virtual PC better than Virtualbox?

I believe that Virtual PC only works on a Windows host, and Virtualbox only
works on a Linux host, so they don't do the same thing. VMWare is still supposed
to be the best, and it is available for both platforms, but it's commercial.
