something in the initialization process is turning off my touchpad.

this is happening shortly after the desktop appears and before the
background slide show starts.

having just installed the RC from disk after having it go wrong in the
Lts I am pretty sure it is something hanging out in my home
directory. the touchpad is on in the input device settings.

any ideas where in the start up this might be?
