error installing jsdk 1.4.2

I have a problem about install process of jsdk 1.4.2.

At work no problem occur, but at home i saw a message look likes "java
can not update your Windows, the problem with windows installer package
occur" (the message is not exactly above :))

At home, i did not install amy service pack.

What is the problem, could you help me?

There could be a problem  with the installation package you downloaded.
Download the jdk again and see if it happens again.

you should first install  Windows Installer Version 2
you can get it form any new CD...
instmsi.exe (for 98,etc)
instmsiw.exe (for NT, 2000, XP etc)

after that J2SDK 1.4.2 will install normally...
