Desktop display question

Date: Nov 26    Category: Unix / Linux / Ubuntu    Views: 304

I have downloaded 10.10 to try. I have it loaded on a spare PC, the issue is
my tired old
eyes. The font on the display is real small, is there a way to change the
display like in
Windows, my I had to use that term, to show a larger screen so I can see the
Icon names
and other things easier. I had 10.04 on this disk before and it was easier
to read.
I have looked in System Preferences looking for a display to change but
don't see it. I don't
even remember seeing anything for desktop either. Although may have missed
it.

There seems to something in System | Preferences | Appearance | Fonts that might
be what you're after.

I tried that a few days ago, but didn't see any difference.
I have since put a different monitor in place of the other
on and see a difference. I think it is the driver it was using
and I couldn't choose a different setting. Right now it isn't
too bad.
I am thinking of loading Kubuntu 10.10 to try out, I have never
tried anything but Gnome so I want to see if I like the other.
