To start - I originally got Ubuntu at 10.04. Had trouble with an HP laser jet,
but found the problem wasn't Ubuntu, but Firefox. I had to adjust a setting in
About:Config. Printer worked great.

Upgrade to 11.04 - FX complains that version is too old. Won't update, won't
install from Software. Finally find the file that will install. Changes fonts,
you name it. Got that fixed (FX setting again).

Meanwhile FX is pushing out new updates as fast as it can, and the setting that
I originally had for the laserjet, is now changed. I can't find the original
command. So the printer takes about an hour to chew on an HTML file. This is FX,
as printing is instantaneous if I print from Ubuntu itself. Type a memo or a
word file - fast and OK.

I've tried Icecat with the same results - Chrome used to do the same. Need to
find Opera - no longer in Software Center.

Anyone know the settings for printing HTML? I print receipts, etc.
I had to set up the printer on both LPT1 and USB. Sometimes one is faster,
sometimes the other. I tried each individually, and each would chew for a while.
With both, the one that says enabled first is usually the faster one. It varies
by site.

BTW - I have FX set not to nag about updates. Just opened About: to check what
version I had, and FX downloads 12! Never even asked for a password, and didn't
show up in Update Manager either. Kind of annoyed me. It didn't install 12 -
just downloaded. Found the download and deleted it. I thought Ubuntu didn't
download without asking.
