Question Answered By: Adah Miller   on Feb 11

Yes, well maybe. It depends on what is wrong with the internal
hard drive where the pictures are stored. The live CD you are running
on will show the disk if it is spinning and available.
Now also which ever live CD version Linux you are on bring up the
file manager, and you should be able to see several folders then a line
and the "Computer, BOOT, RECOVER" at least that is what I see then some
more items below another line. You can double click on BOOT which should
be your Windows OS section of the hard disk, then below that is the file
structure for the the "C" drive, then you need to drive down to the
folder of your pictures. Then you should be able to copy the pictures
from the hard drive to another drive, like USB backup drive.
If the hard drive of the laptop is not visible on the file manager then
a repair shop may be able to take the disk out of the holder and put it
in another holder to reclaim the pictures but it may be risky and to
expensive.
