AFAIK a Beta release does not upgrade to a full one through normal
updating procedures, it's Release Candidates that do this. So you'll
still be in the position of doing a new installation of 12.04 when it
does get a final release.

As for the drivers, again Beta releases tend not to get full support
as they are still 'bug testing' and things can still change quite a
bit.
