this is my personal idea:
liferay with its Journal portlet is more than enough for most simple CMS systesm,
for more complex ones liferay with Alfresco ECMS can be used.
this way you can benefit from other liferay portlets like user managment, news, word of the day, ...
with ability to upgrade to better system in case of need in future.
