Wireless dropping lease very frequently

Date: Feb 05    Category: Unix / Linux / Ubuntu    Views: 331

I am using gentoo and I have got "Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless 2200BG
[Calexico2] Network Connection (rev 05)". For that, I installed ipw2200 driver.
My wireless works, but after every minute my ip and broadcasting address drops.
And then after 30 secs, it will come back again. This is getting really
frustrating. If I use ethernet, the connection never drops. Moreover, I never
had that problem with ubuntu.

I tried reading dmesg output for working and non working state, but the output
of dmesg is the same.

Can anybody give me any clues as to why this is happening?

I read on one of the forums that changing ipw2200 module parameters might help.
However, when I change ipw2200 module parameters and restart the pc, the revert
back to its original values. Can anybody explain this anomaly please?

This use to happen always on my work network but not on home or elswhere.
Stopped happening after their recent update. Makes me think its on the
broadcast side... but never really researched it.
