is skype not available for gutsy gibbon?
i always thought that skype originated for linux.

I have Skype running here on Gutsy, works beautiful, I am not sure where
I downloaded it from!! But will look.

thats the site. do i just download it and install like in windoz or what?
i tried to find it on "add/remove" and it didnt come up.

It does if you have ticked the correct (nonfree(?)) repository in
Synaptic.

32-bit or 64-bit?

I know it is available for 32-bit linux. To use it on 64-bit linux you
need to use automatix2.

Thanks Skip, for an easy install I'll add this address to the Synaptic
Repo list:-
deb http://download.skype.com/linux/repos/debian/ stable non-free

i have problems with the sound configuration of skype.
if it can help i have sony vaio vgn-sr21m.
how should i configurate the sound preferences?

Remove Pulseaudio in Synaptic. It does not play well with Skype which has its
own hardware drivers and there seems to be a conflict for many people. Removing
Pulseaudio is a common fix and usually works. Use Alsa which is better anyway.
