At least I can log in to Skype, but my problem is I can't get the
Logitech headset to recognize the microphone through the USB
connection in Linux.

I end up using Skype on an XP notebook dual boot.

I went to buy a webcam and gave up on Logitech because it did not have Linux
drivers. I was worried about what might happen if I connected it and it was not
recognized, just as you have experienced with your microphone headset. If anyone
knows who makes a good webcam that supports Linux please let me know. I am still
looking.

I plugged my logitech cam in and it worked right off - no problems.

There is a universal webcam driver made by i think a dr of physics in
the usa that supports 250 webcams sorry but i can't find the link but
see if you can get some info from this

I have a logitech quick cam from walmart.
I finally got Skype working but I noticed that the cam doesnt work with Skype.

This is just the sort of thing that I need.
