Replacing hard drive help.

I cloned my Linux to another, larger hard drive using Acronis True
Image booting from the CD. The transfer went OK and I can boot the
new drive. However the drive is constantly searching (never ending
loop) and taking up all the cpu time, consequently I can't get any use
from the new system. I did get a warning that Linux systems may
require some editing, may be to reset the ID of the new drive (?),
what config/files should I look to edit or reset to solve this issue?
I have run the recovery mode ok. (Ubuntu 7.10+Xfce)
