Network Woes

I've got my Windows main computer on the internet, and my laptop on
wireless now. There were some issues with my Linksystems MR814 router
and my Vonage phone router working together.I reinstalled my Netgear
MA311 card in my Ubuntu computer and it shows the chipset,as a Prism
2.5,tells me it's a Netgear MA311 card,shows up on the network manager
as a wired connection(etho) but I am still not connecting to the
internet.Could it be Drivers? or maybe there's somthing else I need to
do? I've read up on a bunch of help sites and it's kind of left me more
confused, some say there is a problem with the chipset in Ubuntu, others
say the card is great for Linux and Ubuntu.I guess I need some hand
holding to get me through this!Or maybe some specific help I can
understand.
