NAT problem

Date: Jan 07    Category: Unix / Linux / Ubuntu    Views: 180

I got an issue with natwork address transation in my router.

If I enable NAT in my router, it take days to open a webpage in
ubuntu, and If I disable it, other computers in the network can not
access internet. I tried configuring static IP address or cloning my
desktop mac address as my router mac address.

But nothing worked.

NAT is okay...
pls disable IPv6 this caused the most troubles

possibly you also get troubles with IPv6 its better to
get it disabled by:
sudo gedit /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist

and add this line:
blacklist ipv6

save your file
next time you reboot,ipv6 will be not enabled, i think
solving your problems...

OK guys chime in on this one.

The only thing I can think of is that Ubuie is running DHCP and it is
conflicting. I don't think the problem is in the router, but that is as close
as I can get. I would suggest get back to working configuratioin with NAT
running and the WinBloz boxes operating correctly and then start working it out
from there.

BTW, I can't tell what your name is, please clarify.

I got a desktop running Ubuntu 6.06 linux running behind a belkin router
with nat enabled.
with nat enabled, it takes like 30 sec for a simple page to open,
which is too much for internet connection that I have.

My network configuration is
Static IP 192.168.2.2
default gateway 192.168.2.1 (IP address of my "Belkin g router"
connected through ethernet)
broadcast address 192.168.2.255
subnet mask 255.255.255.0

This is all that I've configured

Is there something that I'm missing or something that is wrong.

It depends on some factors. The strength of the RF signal, the access points,
and others. If the RF is too weak, it will take a while for the card to pick it
up.

Did you set your dns on the computer and / or the router??

Answer #6    Answered On: Jan 07

you said that you were connected via ethernet cable, not wireless
right? so that excludes wireless problems.... the prior question about
setting up DNS seems relevant except you said this problem is with nat
enabled. Do you mean to say that you don't have that problem with NAT
disabled?
