Invalid Opcode Error

Date: Dec 28    Category: Unix / Linux / Ubuntu    Views: 367

I've been trying to get Ubuntu Gutsy running on my Dell Inspiron 8200...
I posted about this before, but I never posted the error I get... I
get a lot of CPU information about registers and pointers, but it says
it has an invalid opcode and it references unionfs several times.

Does this mean anything to anyone. I have not yet tried the sever
install for Gutsy, but I'm not sure I want to. I don't want to
completely hose my entire HD as if it won't work after installed I do
not want to have to reinstall Windows, even as much as I hate Windows.

Does the server install allow for repartitioning, perhaps a little
easier than fdisk does (as that jumble of complicated numbers and such
is a little beyond me right now)? What is unionfs?
