Initial Installation with wireless keyboard/mouse?

I have a kensington wireless keyboard/mouse and it appears to not like
them.

Do you have to use a wired keyboard and mouse initially?

It's possibly a Kensington thing - I've never had any trouble with my
Logitech wireless keyboard and mouse (except for some of the multimedia
keys) and the adapter for that's hung off the end of so many USB hubs
it's starting to get silly

Im using a brand new Logitech wireless mouse and a awesome new
Microsoft Ergonomic wireless keyboard. They worked fine.
