Firefox on 64-bit 12.04

Date: Feb 11    Category: Unix / Linux / Ubuntu    Views: 361

Even after the system (clean install) has just started, and attempt to open
Firefox results in the message "Firefox is already started, but is not
responding." (Rebooting has no effect, of course.) This makes it unusable,
although the Chrome Web browser is available. I'm wondering if anyone else has
noted this problem? I have not noted it before with any other OS.

I use Chrome with Ubie. Chrome does not crash and not the. YOU
DID WRONG and must close. Chrome is updated with Flash and Java. FF can be a
pain in the butt. Chrome is open source from FF, but runs in a full V8 Detroit
muscle car.

Only installed 12.04LTS 64bit once but FF works great. You could have
a bad install of course but worth removing Firefox and then installing
again. Either through the Ubuntu Software Centre or Synaptic Package
Manager ( needs adding through USC ) and selecting 'complete removal'
if a plain remove/re-install doesn't do it.

I have just had a similar problem after a clean install of Kubuntu
12.04 64 bit,I have tried to install Firefox but it just keeps asking me to
install it?though the Firefox icon appears on the desktop
but wont open and run!

It sounds like you have it set so that your open applications are
saved when you login and FF is running. I would try to run Task
Manager and Terminate the running FF and then re-start it.
