ENABLING DESKTOP EFFECTS

I am using Ubuntu Linux for past one month.I am getteng error whenever
i wish to enable desktop effects.Its the same when i boot From Ubuntu

Do you know what video card you have? Can you please post the error message?

What have you done so far to attempt this? I don't want to just give you a URL
