Question Answered By: Adah Miller   on Jan 23

I've installed Samba on my Kubuntu computers and it works but has a lot of
little gotchas. Every once in a while one or more machines seems to
spontaneously disable using encrypted passwords, which means it won't work.
I also find it requires disabling and reenabling Samba on some machines to
keep them accessible on the network - and this in turn requires running
Winbindd as root.

In short it is a high maintenance solution, at least for me, and I'd welcome
an easier, if less secure, way. I just need to be able to copy and move
files around a 10 node home network and print from all stations.

Suggestions anyone? Only ones for Kubuntu please for me, I don't use Ubuntu.
