Question Answered By: Adah Miller   on Dec 17

I'm not giving up on Ubuntu, I still use it all
the time. I'm just a little pissed at ATI for dropping support for
their legacy equipment! Here I have this nice laptop that, albeit 4+
years old, still works great and, under Win XP (it's dual boot),
provides very decent graphics & effects. I'm just jealous of everyone
else out there that's able to at least have the compiz cube (which
worked on this laptop when I had 6.10 running on it). I was just hoping
somebody out there had some type of "fix" for my problem that I hadn't
seen in the forums yet.

This isn't stopping me from using Ubuntu everyday. It's just bothersome
knowing I have a video card that can do most of the neat "eye candy"
things but, because of a lack of a good driver, it never will. Guess
it's time for me to stop being so cheap and go out and get a new
laptop!! Of course, it'll have to have an nVidia card this time!
