Try putting a form  refresh and or a doevents after you've written the text.

Instead of the status  bar have you tried writing to the immediate window?

OTOH.. You may want users to see what's happening. What control or part of
control are you using for the text?

FWIW I sometimes use a listbox on a form. It works well for me and is
scrollable so I can see a history of what happened.
