Tool fpr jwm

I am running AMD64 Precise on a scratch-built machine with a quad core processor
and 8Gb of RAM. My scanner is an Epson Perfection V500 Photo. When I run
xsane, the scan head moves in a normal manner, but the scanner lamp never comes
on. The scanner functions correctly when scanning under Windows XP running on a
virtual machine on the same system.

It used to work under Ubuntu, but this may be the first time I've used it since
moving up to 12.04 (clean install). I tried finding drivers on the Epson site,
but it keeps pointing at Iscan which I can't figure out how to install. FWIW,
"Simple Scan" from the Ubuntu Software Center exhibits the same problem as
xsane, so that probably points to a driver issue.
