Revisit playing XM Radio online

I think I have tried everything, but since it isn't working I haven't done
everything.

Searched Ubuntu and read where others have had luck doing things, but those
things did not work for me.

Someone here suggested VLC. Didn't work for me.

Since I know nothing, I could have the wrong setting on something.

It worked before with Ubuntu and I think it worked on Koala for awhile but not
sure.

I installed anything that looked promising in synaptic.

It has been a long adventure with a lot of learning...just hope I remember some
of it.

Apparently most on this list use other ways to get radio on their computer, but
just in case someone is interested in XM Radio I have found the solution.

After a new install of 9.10, upgrade of Intrepid, and another new install of
9.10 and many major problems, it is working. I read on ubuntu forums a letter
about playing internet radio. They said to install ubuntu-restricted-extras. It
worked!! Wish I had known that weeks ago.
