I am a newbie and would like advice on any online tutorials, guides
etc or advice on the best way of getting started with VBA for excel.

Recommendations of books etc would also be appreciated.

I found The mSoft stuff to be pretty good
(strangely enough), but it helps to stumble around for a while then
the "official" words will mean more.

www.microsoft.com/.../pgtoc.htm

Each time I read the beginning sections, I get more out of it.
There are many new things to learn.

Then there's Tech Trax. :

Search for Excel VBA. Mark Thorp has some beginners stuff that can
help.

and

http://www.vba-programmer.com/
http://www.codeguru.com/forum/
http://p2p.wrox.com/forum.asp?FORUM_ID=72 (Excel VBA)

It took me a while to understand (sort of) *where* (which Module) to
put *what*.

I'm relatively new too, so let me point of a few sites/resources that I've used:

www.fontstuff.com has four, pretty simple, different examples about VBA
concepts.
www.excelforum.com is a great site, you can post questions or simply read
questions that other people have. You can search for "vba tutorials" on their
site as well and it will return some posts loaded with information.
www.j-walk.com is author John Walkenbach's page, it lists some useful info too.

I've got several books  on the subject:

Power Programming with vba  by Walkenbach, I'm not through this book yet but I
think his excel  Formulas book is top notch.

Definitive Guide to Excel VBA by Kofler is very good.

But if you're like me you just want someone to "walk you through" the basics,
then I think Crash Course in Excel Programing is a decent book too.

It's well worth looking at the techtrax tutorials  and articles... In
fact maybe you'd like to check out one that... dare I say it...
compiled myself. about working in the VBE.
