Google chrome--importing bookmarks

Date: Feb 05    Category: Unix / Linux / Ubuntu    Views: 292

I'd be grateful if someone could put me right on this.

I've used Firefox with the google toolbar for several years now for
bookmarks [amongst other things], and want to consider using google
Chrome. However, while Chrome will import bookmarks from Firefox ok, i
seem to miss the point of wanting to continue using the google toolbar
bookmarks facility on a google browser.

No one else seems to have raised this so i'm thinking as google claim
Chrome's purpose is simplicity - is that i've clearly missed the point
somewhere and would be grateful if someone could put me in the right
direction.

If I understand your question correctly...

Chrome, and Chromium for Ubuntu, both have "sync" built in. Under the
Settings wrench in the upper right hand corner find Preferences or
Options. Go to "Personal Stuff" and find Sync. All you need is your
Google login information. This allows synchronization of many things,
including Bookmarks, for every computer on which you use
Chrome/Chromium. Only has to be done once on every computer, then all
look and act the same.

you are right about Crome being a minimalist and it has therefore
tried to do away with the idea of loads of tool bars. However if you
click the Spanner icon on the right you can go to Preferences and change
the home page to Google search, you can also go via Tools/Extensions to
a whole gallery of useful additions.
