Flash problem

Date: Dec 03    Category: Unix / Linux / Ubuntu    Views: 469

I have been visiting this site
http://www.liveexercise.com/page/chiseled-show

for the past 107 days without problem. Just recently they moved from
UStream to using Flowplayer.

I have tried this on Opera, Chrome and Firefox and all are having troubles.

Opera wont play it at all - FF just hangs and finally crashes.
Chrome will play it but it takes like 14 minutes to load. Its freakin
crazy. Im just getting flack about not using Windows or Mac.

Would a few of you mind hitting that site and seeing if you can get the
video to load?

Im on 9.04 using Chrome 5.0.342.9 beta, Opera 10.10 build 4742 and FF
3.6.2pre on a 10mb sustainable connection.

The site works fine for me - I'm looking at show 95, legs and biceps. It
loaded up in a second and it's running smoothly. My platform:

ubuntu 8.04 LTS
google chrome 5.0.342.9 beta
adobe flash player 10.0.45.2-1

Answer #2    Answered On: Dec 03

I just checked with firefox-3.5.9 and it's also fine there.

Try an internet speed test? http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/

Here's the result I got just now from the office:

Last Result:*
Download Speed: *67558* kbps (8444.8 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: *6130* kbps (766.3 KB/sec transfer rate)

Ok your internet connection speed looks fine - so what are the
differences in our systems?

What are your OS/browser/flash versions?

What is your hardware platform? (here are the outputs of /proc/cpuinfo
and free on my system)

Something I might point out there:
This site: www.http://insidesoccer.com/
works just fine for me. I can view all the videos.
Its ONLY this one sight so far.
But within our community, while there are a few who are having troubles,
none that I having.

Below is the requested information:

I didn't get your memory information - or your OS.

Ok.. I thought I posted this but I forgot:

Thanks, you seem to have plenty of RAM but I still have no idea what OS
you're running.

Answer #11    Answered On: Dec 03

9.04.....................................

Answer #12    Answered On: Dec 03

Oh, 9.04, yikes. Known to have serious performance issues, with graphics
and disk I/O - I'm surprised you haven't had other problems. I'd
recommend that you upgrade to 10.04 soon.

Answer #13    Answered On: Dec 03

It won't load, at least not in the 60 seconds that I was prepared to wait.
That's on Chrome running under Kubuntu 9.04 on an AMD Sempron 2800 with 2 GB
of RAM.

Answer #14    Answered On: Dec 03

I tried it this morning on my laptop running XP on Chrome and it finally
loaded in 8 min.

Answer #15    Answered On: Dec 03

I see a common denominator here - so far those having issues with this
site are also running the troublesome 9.04 release. The site works fine
for me on my 8.04 and 10.04 desktops, and I got rid of any and all 9.04
installs long ago so I can't test with that to verify, but it seems
clear that 9.04 is a factor.

Answer #16    Answered On: Dec 03

I probably will upgrade but the funny thing is:
its ONLY this site. Im watching video on several screens right now - but
only this site (which Im at twice a day) is having this through and only
since changing servers.

Well, lets get 10.04 out and see what happens.

Answer #17    Answered On: Dec 03

When I logged on, there was no live show, just archived ones. When I clicked on
an archived show in Chrome, nothing happened in the next minute or so. In
Firefox, the video immediately began playing, and everything was "normal." I use
64-bit Linux Mint 9.04 with Firefox 3.0.17 and Flash 10.0 r22.
