Flash Player 9.0.124 on Ubuntu 8.04

Date: Dec 18    Category: Unix / Linux / Ubuntu    Views: 379

I have installed Adobe Flash Player 9.0.124 on my Ubuntu
8.04 machine. The system says it is installed. The Adobe web page that
test installations says it in installed. Yet it is not working. Anyone
else having this problem?

I think many have the same problem - maybe even everyone. It stems from the
latest update to flash, which has not been 100% ported over to our favourite
Op System. Maybe it can't be.

The strange thing is that even though it won't work on my desktop machine it
works just fine on my MSI Wind and my Asus Eee pc machines! All are running
Kubuntu 7.10 or 8.04 and I've tried all the variations I've found without
success - except on the small notebooks!

Can anyone shed any light on this?

All my installs work fine now, but I remember one install I had to
change the default directory it installed to from Mozilla(?) to
Firefox-3.0.1 or wherever your Firefox is actually installed. Uh,
for Firefox users.

The other time was when I was able to directly install from a page
that asked for it (like the Ultamatix site) and you have to do it
twice, once for the installer and then click on it again, to install
the SWF codecs(?) or something.

Check firefox using the following url to see if the Flash Player plugin is
installed properly:

Forgot to mention that if it's a sound problem, you need to dl/install
the libflashsupport package (synaptic or use link below)packages.ubuntu.com/hardy/libs/libflashsupport
