if you're asking a series of "newbie questions" about
things not working, that you might want to back away from 64-bit and
Beta software???

"The Latest, is seldom the Greatest!" - an oldtimer's computer saying.

Although, I've been impressed with one machine using Firefox 3 beta
5...even then, running into add-ons not yet updated, like Colorful Tabs.

May please give you this link to Ubuntu Wiki site. It has loads and loads of
information and not too say that life saver icon on your top left hand corner.

And here is a link for your cam

Try installing a program called Cheese. It is very similar to apple's
Photobooth application. BTW, to access the device directly you would need
to identify which hardware link it is setup as in /dev directory. There
really isn't anything you can do to access it other than with a viewer
application.
