Ubuntu and Windows XP on the same computer

I am very new to Ubuntu, I took it as a Christmas present for me and my
family, I installed it on our PC on the first day of Christmas and I can say
Ubuntu is superior to Windows from many points of view, although Windows has
certain advantages (I can use the Visual Basic 6.0 programming environment,
which is wonderful). I wanted to make some partitions, 40 GB for Ubuntu and 40
GB for Windows XP but I got angry because of the stupid adverisements from
Microsoft, I took out the Windows CD and put Ubuntu instead. Now I have Ubuntu
on my PC, Windows is deleted. My only concern now is that I have great
difficulties with configuring the pppoe Internet connection under Ubuntu. Please
tell me what would the best option be: put another IDE hard disk when I want to
use Windows or put a serial ATA hard-disk for Windows ? Can I install the
blessed and goddamn' Windows on a serial ATA hard-disk ?

try installing through wubi (http://wubi-installer.org/ )...
It will download and install ubuntu 7.04. You dont have to make a cd and
burn it and partition the hard drive for that... you can just run wubi as if
it was any other windows program. It will install a whole new Operating
system (ubuntu or its derivaties). I did it that way and it a lot easier to
install the whole ubuntu that way..
When you restart after the installation there is a choice to run which
operating software to run... This way you can easily install ubuntu in a pc
without any harm done to your drive or windows...
try it

You need a high speed internet to do this ( if you have a slow connection
then i would suggest you to partition the hard drive and install ubuntu)

I have a bootable Ubuntu CD, Ubuntu is already on my PC and Windows is
deleted but the Internet does not work. I would not mind to use the Internet
only under Windows but I would have liked to see how it works under Ubuntu also.
And I wanted to download programs for Linux.
