I got the itch to put Ubu on my spare Compaq P3 this evening. Hate to
say it but no problems!

Anytime you install an OS without any problems you
should be happy & tell somebody.

I've only had little time to get familiar with Ubu - installed printers
this afternoon [it was a pleasure to install]. IT IS SO MUCH better than
windoze... quick, simple, easy... to me (as a non-expert). This install
was just a test as i hadn't checked anything out on the Compaq (it's a
P3 1GHz - 500mb that someone was throwing out) - it is faster, less
bloated and a pleasure to use. Having joined a Linux users group i've
asked advice and seen their set-ups - think i'm already converted.

Having read some folks problems i do think it is wise to have a good
thorough test of an app before 'serious use'. Most problems are due to a
hard disk or conflicting software... somehow somewhere. I'll 'play' for
a few weeks before converting fully over.

I know the feeling. The first time I installed XP, it was a nightmare.
That is when I learned about Mepis and then on to Ubuntu.
