Seeking the data in two columns

I've got two columns of data (number).
There are a correspondence between both and each of these are sorted
by ascendant.
I would like to fill a third column which contains data of the same
kind of the second column by replacing them by their correspondent.
But I don't want to use "vlookup" because I type only a few data in
the two first columns.
I think there is a method that Excel understands the correspondence
between the two first columns and seek the correspondence of the
following number.
Here is one example to help you to understand:
A B
1 1148
2 1149
3 1150
...

In the columns C, there are:
C
1178
1167
1194
...

Is it possible to avoid to type all the data in the two first columns?
