List box validation

Asked By: Willie    Date: Jan 17    Category: MS Office    Views: 622

I am using Excel 2000 and the drop down boxes do not show for list
validations. I know they are properly setup as they did at one time
function correctly and there has been no change to them since then.

This was a problem in earlier versions when you would freeze panes.
The MS knowledge base or a Google search does not have an article
discussing this problem with 2000. I am not using "freeze panes". Any
ideas?

I believe that I have located the source of the problem with the list
boxes. I located a unintended named range that had in its scope one or
more of the cells with list  validation. I deleted the named range and
the functionality of the drop down boxes returned. It now works as
expected.

This must be one of those undocumented "features" that Bill includes in
his products for no extra charge.
