Linux vs. Windows 7

Date: Nov 29    Category: Unix / Linux / Ubuntu    Views: 353

I recently was required to use Windows 7. As an experienced computer user, it
was infuriatingly frustrating. You couldn't DO anything. It is like starting all
over learning computers. To say I h.a.t.e. it would be such an understatement.
Long live Linux. I'm never going back.

From my experience of win 7 RC I thought it was amazing, albeit cpu
thirsty, really amazing though, it configured all of my hardware (except for
sound for my specific hardware), and the wifi, I played cpu intensive games like
Far Cry on it too, and the frame rate was very good!!!

I can sympathise with you though where you say its like learning computers all
over again, its the same with me, I have gone from using win xp to linux Ubuntu
and I am asked of linux many questions and settings about items windows would do
automatically (saves days of time).

Windows is okay if you like paying for the privilege of letting a mega
corporation control your computer and your computing habits. :)

Microsoft cares nothing for me --- except for taking my money. When have
they ever invested any of their money in improving their product. It is all
about selling the next one and issuing patches for vulnerabilities for the
previous one that others find instead of them. Deep down Windows is still
the same insecure, dull operating system built on an old and labour
intensive file system. Any good ideas in Windows 7 were stolen from Linux
and OS/X. Where is the innovation? I agree with Charles Couch.

I would not accept a free copy of Windows 7, any version. Been there, done
that! Never again.
