Geo Mapping Applications

I have a DeLorme mapping program that I like using, however I must use
it in Windows. Truth be told it is the only reason I dual boot my notebook.

While navigating through San Antonio Windows failed and left me without
navigation. I have quit using paper maps and had to exit to re-boot
windows for this. I have no problem paying for an application to do the
job but have failed to find one. I have experimented with several of
the Linux applications but fail to get any good results. I have
installed gpsd that fails to connect to my puck.

If there is anyone on this list that can help me set up using the
openstreetmaps and make it work on my notebook I would be much appreciative.

This failure once again helps me understand why I have moved almost
everything to the Linux platform, and I am now anxious to move my
navigation as well.
